what kind of butterfly is that? cos we don't have a lot of butterflies in Australia around where I am that are that vibrant. Great picture, I love the detail and focus!

It's called Glanville Fritillary (Melitaea cinxia), in former times a frequently seen butterfly here in Europe. The last years his situation got more and more worse due to an loss of his habitats. Mankind grows, nature's variety declines :(

Cheers
Stevie

That's so sad. Thanks for the info. The most common butterflies in Australia where I am are Monarch and Ulysses Butterflies. But I've always wanted to see really big butterflies.

Thanks.

Hi,

the butterflies in Europe aren't very big, the smallest here in Germany ist the small blue with approx. 16mm wingspan, the biggest has "only" 90mm wingspan (Limenitis populi)

whoa then you must have an insane camera. it makes it seem as though it's actually quite large. Because of the detail and stuff.
