As with "On the Rocks", this is a very effective combination of subject, color, and lighting. The saturated purples against the complementary soft gold backlit "fuzzies" really make the subject "pop" for me. The feeling of having captured a golden, passing moment that will never come again is very strong and poignant. I particularly like the graceful curve of the lower stem. It could potentially lead the eye out of the center, but the slight upward sweep of the grasses below it, the balancing reverse echo of the shape in the small dark leaves of the other stem, and the subtle arc of diffuse purple from the flowers in the background help bring the eye back around. There's a distinct flowing triangular effect at the center that's very effective, just enough off axis to suggest energy and frozen movement without being uneasy.
I do find the single very green blade of grass just below the centerline to be somewhat distracting: perhaps pulling it away before taking the shot would have strengthened the composition somewhat. Being the greenest thing in the shot one of the darkest, it stands out and competes with the subject. If it were lightened just a bit or desaturated, it would blend in better. I'm also a little of two minds about the bit of backlight glow on the grass elements at the extreme lower left. They add a bit of sparkle to that area, but my eye keeps going back to them and away from the center the longer I look, so they compete just a bit with the center of interest even though they're very subtle.
This is one piece I could look at all day. Great shot!
Wow - that's my first impression of this photo. I am stunned by the way the little "hairs" are backlit so beautifully, and your composition is flawless. Thank you for sharing such a stunning piece of photography!
